The Implementation of ClassPoint-Based Learning Media on the Learning Motivation in Christian Religious Education and Character Formation of Grade XI Students at SMK Negeri 1 Siatas Barita

Abstract
Christian Religious Education (CRE) and Character Formation are integral components of Indonesia’s educational framework, emphasizing not only cognitive knowledge but also the cultivation of faith, discipline, and moral values. Field observations at SMK Negeri 1 Siatas Barita revealed that Grade XI students frequently demonstrated low motivation in CRE lessons, as evidenced by inattentiveness, lack of participation, and incomplete assignments. Such challenges highlight the limitations of conventional lecture-based instruction and underscore the need for innovative pedagogical strategies. This study investigates the effectiveness of ClassPoint, an interactive add-in for Microsoft PowerPoint, in improving student motivation by integrating real-time quizzes, polls, and digital annotations into classroom learning. Employing a quasi-experimental design, the research involved a population of 423 students, with two purposively selected classes: XI Accounting 2 as the experimental group and XI Accounting 1 as the control group. A 32-item questionnaire measuring learning motivation was administered as both pre-test and post-test. Data were analyzed using N-Gain scores and an independent sample t-test. Results showed that the experimental group achieved an average N-Gain score of 0.7284 (high), while the control group obtained 0.2666 (low). The t-test revealed a significant difference between the two groups (t = 11.694 > t-table = 2.000, α = 0.05). These findings confirm that ClassPoint-based learning media significantly enhances student motivation, transforming classrooms into interactive, engaging, and participatory environments. The study concludes that adopting digital tools like ClassPoint in CRE not only improves academic engagement but also supports the holistic mission of Christian education in shaping character and values.
