Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the implementation of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) strategies in Christian Religious Education (PAK) to enhance students’ creativity at SMP Negeri 1 Sibolga. The background of this research is rooted in the need for a learning approach that goes beyond cognitive and textual dimensions, fostering critical thinking, innovation, and problem-solving skills aligned with real-life challenges. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection techniques included classroom observations of the learning process, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and analysis of supporting documents such as lesson plans (RPP) and students’ creative works. The findings reveal that the problem-based learning strategy has a significant impact on enhancing students’ creativity in PAK classes. Through active engagement in identifying problems, exploring information, and formulating contextual solutions grounded in Christian faith values, students not only gain a conceptual understanding of the subject matter but also demonstrate the ability to creatively apply these values in everyday life. The PBL approach effectively creates dialogical, reflective, and collaborative learning spaces that encourage the expression of ideas and the development of innovative solutions. In conclusion, the study affirms that the application of PBL in Christian Religious Education constitutes an effective and relevant pedagogical strategy for shaping character and enhancing students’ creativity. It is recommended that PAK teachers actively integrate PBL into their lesson planning and implementation to foster a more meaningful and transformative educational process.
