Screening for Plagiarism Policy
Global Perspectives on Christian Education and Theology (GPCET) maintains a strict policy against plagiarism and academic misconduct. All manuscripts submitted to the journal are screened for originality to ensure academic integrity and to protect the rights of authors and publishers.
1. Plagiarism Check
-
All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software (such as Turnitin or iThenticate) before entering the peer review process.
-
The similarity index must be below 20% (excluding bibliography and quoted material).
-
Manuscripts exceeding this limit will be returned to the authors for revision or rejected outright, depending on the severity of the case.
2. Types of Plagiarism
The following practices are considered unethical and unacceptable:
-
Direct Plagiarism: Copying text verbatim without proper citation.
-
Self-Plagiarism: Republishing one’s own previously published work without disclosure or permission.
-
Mosaic Plagiarism: Borrowing phrases from various sources without proper citation.
-
Inaccurate Authorship: Failing to give credit to individuals who contributed to the research or adding authors who did not contribute.
3. Consequences
If plagiarism is detected:
-
Before publication: The manuscript will be rejected immediately.
-
After publication: The article may be retracted and appropriate corrections will be made public. Authors may also be banned from future submissions.
4. Author Responsibility
Authors are solely responsible for the originality of their work. They are strongly encouraged to check their manuscripts using plagiarism detection tools before submission.
