Abstract

This study, titled Modeling Faith through Social Competence: A Christian Educational Reflection on Genesis 6:22 at SDN 047173 Cimbang Ujung, explores how the professional social competence of Christian Religious Education (CRE) teachers embodies faith in action within a pluralistic educational setting. Grounded in the biblical narrative of Noah-who “did everything just as God commanded him”-the research interprets social competence as a theological virtue rather than merely a pedagogical skill. Using a qualitative-exegetical approach, the study integrates biblical interpretation with educational reflection to examine how obedience, relational integrity, and moral faithfulness manifest in teaching practice. Data were collected through scriptural analysis, literature review, and reflective observations of CRE teachers at SDN 047173 Cimbang Ujung, a multicultural public elementary school in Karo, North Sumatra. The findings reveal that social competence, when rooted in faith, becomes a form of ministry that mirrors God’s covenantal faithfulness. Four key dimensions-relational humility, dialogical empathy, communicative integrity, and servant leadership-emerge as indicators of faithful teaching. Teachers who live these values foster inclusive relationships, embody moral consistency, and cultivate spiritual formation among students. The study highlights that faith must be relationally expressed to be pedagogically effective; authentic teaching occurs when biblical truth is incarnated in daily social interaction. Ultimately, this research concludes that Christian educators, like Noah, are called to model obedience and faithfulness in community life. Through social competence, they transform classrooms into spaces of grace and witness, shaping character and preserving moral integrity in the next generation.
