The Influence of the Application of the Question-and-Answer Learning Method in Christian Religious Education and Character Education on the Topic of Building Social Solidarity toward the Learning Outcomes of Grade VIII Students at SMP Negeri 2 Siabu - Mandailing Natal

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of the question-and-answer learning method in Christian Religious Education and Character Education, specifically on the topic of building social solidarity, on the learning outcomes of Grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 2 Siabu. The research employed a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design of the one-group pretest-posttest type. The population consisted of 30 Grade VIII students who are Christians at SMP Negeri 2 Siabu in the 2024/2025 academic year, all of whom were included as research respondents. Data were collected through a test consisting of 20 items. The results of data analysis indicate a significant positive influence of the question-and-answer learning method on students’ learning outcomes. The findings show that students’ academic performance improved after the application of the method, particularly in learning Christian Religious Education and Character Education on the topic of building social solidarity. This conclusion is supported by the significance test, which revealed that the calculated t_value exceeded the critical t_value (α = 0.05; df = n–1 = 29), namely 12.750 > 2.042. Therefore, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H_a) is accepted, meaning that the application of the question-and-answer method in Christian Religious Education and Character Education significantly affects the learning outcomes of Grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 2 Siabu, Mandailing Natal, in the 2024/2025 academic year.
