The Effect of the Flipped Classroom Learning Model on the Learning Motivation of Christian Religious Education and Character Education among Grade XII Students at SMA Negeri 1 Sianjur Mulamula - Samosir Regency

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the flipped classroom learning model on the learning motivation of Grade XII students at SMA Negeri 1 Sianjur Mulamula in the 2025/2026 academic year. The research hypothesis posits that there is a positive and significant effect of the flipped classroom learning model on the learning motivation of Grade XII students in Christian Religious Education and Character Education at SMA Negeri 1 Sianjur Mulamula during the 2025/2026 academic year.The study employed descriptive and inferential quantitative methods. The population consisted of all Grade XII students at SMA Negeri 1 Sianjur Mulamula in the 2025/2026 academic year who are Protestant Christians, totaling 202 students. A purposive sampling technique was applied to select the sample, consisting of 36 students from class XII-A1. The research instrument used was a closed-ended questionnaire. The data analysis results revealed: a) The correlation coefficient (r) was 0.851 > rtable 0.329, and the t-test value (t) was 9.449 > ttable 1.69092, indicating a positive and significant relationship between the flipped classroom learning model and students’ learning motivation. b) Regression analysis results were obtained (details of the regression equation). c) The determination test indicated that the flipped classroom model accounts for 72.42% of the variance in learning motivation. d) The hypothesis test yielded Fcount= 89.301 > Ftable = 3.32, leading to the rejection of H₀ and acceptance of Hₐ. The study concludes that the flipped classroom learning model has a positive and significant effect on the learning motivation of Grade XII students in Christian Religious Education and Character Education at SMA Negeri 1 Sianjur Mulamula in the 2025/2026 academic year.
