This exegetical-reflective study explores the theological and pedagogical significance of Exodus 33:14-“My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest”-in the context of Christian Religious Education (CRE) at SMP Negeri 1 Sawo, North Nias, Indonesia. Grounded in the understanding that education is both a divine calling and a formative spiritual process, the study examines how CRE teachers can embody prayer and intimacy with God as essential aspects of professional and spiritual identity. Using a qualitative approach combining Scriptural exegesis and Systematic Literature Review (SLR), the research interprets the passage within Moses’ dialogue with God after Israel’s rebellion, uncovering the theological themes of divine presence (panay) and rest (nuach). The findings reveal that teaching in God’s presence transforms pedagogy into an act of worship, where the teacher’s prayer life and spiritual integrity create a classroom atmosphere of peace, compassion, and moral formation. Teachers who cultivate intimacy with God demonstrate emotional resilience, patience, and wisdom-qualities that enable them to guide students not only academically but spiritually. The study further identifies that professional competence and spiritual depth must coexist; knowledge without divine presence becomes mechanical, while spirituality without competence lacks direction. By integrating both, teachers become living testimonies of faith, embodying divine peace and grace in their vocation. The reflection concludes that the CRE teacher’s role mirrors Moses’ dependence on God’s companionship-making teaching not merely an occupation but a spiritual pilgrimage shaped by the continual experience of God’s abiding presence.
