Enhancing Pedagogical Competence Through Communication Skills: A Biblical Reflection from Exodus 4:12 at SD Negeri 075110 Lasara Berua
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study explores the enhancement of pedagogical competence among Christian Religious Education (CRE) teachers through the effective use of communication skills, with a biblical reflection from Exodus 4:12 at SD Negeri 075110 Lasara Berua. Pedagogical competence encompasses the ability to plan, implement, and evaluate learning processes in ways that address students’ cognitive, affective, and spiritual development. Communication skills, including verbal articulation, nonverbal cues, questioning, feedback, and relational interaction, are essential in conveying content, fostering engagement, and modeling Christian values. By synthesizing existing literature, the study examines how these skills contribute to teachers’ effectiveness in teaching, classroom management, and moral guidance. The findings indicate that verbal and nonverbal communication enhance understanding and engagement, while reflective questioning and constructive feedback promote critical thinking and spiritual reflection. Relational communication fosters trust, motivation, and ethical development among students. Integrating biblical reflection, particularly from Exodus 4:12, reinforces the spiritual dimension of pedagogy, highlighting that effective communication is both a professional skill and a spiritual responsibility. Challenges such as diverse student needs and limited professional development can hinder communication effectiveness, but targeted training, collaborative practices, and reflective teaching approaches can address these issues. The study concludes that communication skills are integral to the development of pedagogical competence, enabling CRE teachers to deliver lessons effectively, model Christian virtues, and facilitate holistic student growth. Recommendations emphasize professional development, integration of biblical principles, and reflective practices to strengthen pedagogical and spiritual outcomes.
