The Personality Competence of Christian Religious Education Teachers in Guiding Students at SMP Negeri 2 Mandrehe Barat to Manage Emotions

Abstract
This study examines the personality competence of Christian Religious Education (CRE) teachers in guiding students to manage emotions at SMP Negeri 2 Mandrehe Barat. Emotional management is crucial during adolescence, and teachers with strong personality competence can significantly influence students' emotional development. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection through interviews, observations, and documentation. The participants consist of three CRE teachers and 30 students from grades VII to IX. Findings reveal that CRE teachers demonstrate personality competence through four main dimensions: stable and mature personality, work ethics, wise behavior, and being role models. Teachers guide students in emotion management through religious value integration, mentoring approaches, prayer practices, and biblical teaching applications. However, challenges persist, including limited time allocation, diverse student backgrounds, and inadequate facilities. The study concludes that personality competence of CRE teachers plays a vital role in fostering students' emotional intelligence, though institutional support and continuous professional development remain essential for optimal outcomes.
